Faux Cops

12 Nov

I have been living in Salt Lake for just over a month now. Since then I have seen police cars everywhere. I’m trained to be on the look out for them, coming from a small town where all the police drive very distinct trucks. Very easy to spot from a distance. The only problem is, only 40% of these turn out to be actual police cars. I will spot the signature sirens and lettering on the doors only to get a bit closer and see that they are some security company patrolling mall parking lots and hoity toity gated communities. I don’t know about anyone else, but I think they are operating under false pretenses. They drive around striking fear into the hearts of drivers everywhere. It’s like a hall monitor wearing a police uniform.

My suggestion is that these faux cops reveal their true identities by making it visible from a distance. How about cone shaped sirens or painting the car solid fluorescent pink? It’s only fair.

Sounds like a job for some night vigilante in a cat suit, armed with a backpack full of pink cans of spray paint, wink wink nudge nudge.
