Almost a Car

2 Jul

The nice (hot) weather has brought many people out riding bikes. I respect their desire to squeeze in some exercise, enjoy the great outdoors, and save a few cents (hundreds of dollars) in fuel.

However, I feel that many of these people actually have a deep desire to die. Common sense seems to completely elude some of these people. However much it may be killing the environment, there are people driving big killing machines on wheels. I fear that a bicycle may be no match for these. If a bicyclist wants to play car and obey all the rules then fine. The people I’m beginning to take issue with are the bicyclists that weave in out of traffic; changing from sidewalk to road on a whim. The other day I actually saw a bicyclist tail a car and then run right into it when it stopped.

Honestly, I just don’t see how you can feel safe performing these shenanigans. Cars still kill, even if it is sunny and you’re in Utah. Be careful people!

I’ve always thought bicyclists were a difficult breed – when I was a runner, I noticed how friendly all of the other runners were – waving to each other, saying good morning, etc. I followed suit, and foolishly extended this courtesy to bicyclists. I quickly learned that they are snobs and certainly cannot condescend to return a wave or a greeting to a mere runner. So arrogant. Hmph!

I still want a vintage bicycle. Remember when we were gonna buy some a couple months ago? I’m still game if you are.
